About this Bed and Breakfast
A little piece of 'home from home' hospitality in the heart of York, The Fourposter Lodge is a beautiful Victorian villa which dates back to 1865 and retains plenty of charming period features. Wonderfully hosted by Shirley, the lodge has been in the same family for over thirty years and is close to both York University and the Barbican Centre. Relax and plan your daily activities in one of our lovely four poster guest rooms which are presented in-keeping with the Victorian ambience of the property. Families of up to four people can be accommodated and pets are also accepted by arrangement at an extra charge.
The attractions of the city centre can be found a ten minute walk away via Fishergate or Walmgate Bar. Enjoy a visit to the Castle Museum, the Shambles, Jorvik Viking Centre and the accommodation is ideal for couples, families and business visitors.
Bedrooms / BathroomsBedroom five - a newly refurbished guest room situated on the ground floor at the back of the property with an ensuite bath/ shower room

Bedroom eight - a large guest room set on the first floor, at the back of the house. This room has a small ensuite shower room and can sleep two adults and two children

Bedroom ten - a first floor guest room, set at the front of the house with ensuite shower room
Bedroom eleven - an attic guest room with view of the Minster, situated at the back of the house. This room has private facilities including a WC on the landing. The shower and hand basin are situated in the guest room
Bedroom twelve - a double bedroom with an additional single bed which is situated in the attic, at the front of the house. This room also has an ensuite shower room
All of the gorgeous guest rooms have a four poster bed, a TV, radio, hair dryer, hospitality tray and Wi-Fi service.
Start you day with a range of options including cereals, muesli or porridge. These are followed by a hearty English breakfast with a choice eggs or lighter options such as kippers, fruit, yoghurt plus hot beverages, white and wholemeal toast, jams and marmalade. Special diets can also be catered for when advised at the time of booking.
Well behaved pets are accepted by prior arrangement at a charge of £7 per booking/ per night.
Check in time is between 12pm and 6pm with late arrivals by arrangement only.
Check out time is by 10.30am on your departure.
Last minute bookings of one night on a Saturday may be accepted if availability allows.
From the A59 Once on the A59, ignore signs directing you to turn left for York City. When you reach Blossom Street, turn left and then right at Nunnery Lane. Turn left onto Bishopgate and keep on the main road with the City Wall on your left until you reach Paragon Street and the front of the Barbican Leisure Centre. At the corner of Paragon Street and Barbican Road, turn right at the lights and carry along to next set of lights and then turn left onto Heslington Road. Fourposter Lodge is approximately 100 yards further on and is on the left hand side.
From the A64 Once on the A64, keep on that road until you come to the selby and york A19 slip road (don’t follow the “A19 - thirsk” sign which is before the selby sign). Once on the A19 proceed north passing through Fulford and look out for the Army Barracks on the right. Just past the pelican crossing is a lane to fork right sign posted District Hospital to Cemetary Road. At the traffic lights turn right onto Heslington Road. Fourposter Lodge is approximately 100 yards further on and is on the left hand side.
