A beautifully appointed single storey cottage, South Byre in the Eden Valley village of Skelton near Penrith is a former cow byre lovingly refurbished and ideally situated for exploring the Eden Valley, the Lake District and the North Pennines. The village inn serving fine food and offering a take-away service is a 2 minute stroll away and two children's play areas plus a seasonal tennis court are nearby. Numerous walking and cycling trails are direct from the yard and local supermarkets will happily deliver direct to Salutation Yard.
Accommodation at Sojourn North
We have two other luxury properties at Sojourn North - West Barn sleeping 4 adults and 2/3 children and East Byre sleeping 6 plus 3 cots. All properties are self-contained and located around our peaceful and sheltered Salutation Yard, available to book individually or together for larger groups. East Byre and South Byre sit just next door to each other and are perfect for renting together to accommodate up to 10 guests.

Fully fitted contemporary kitchen with a fitted sink and wall/ floor units, a freestanding kitchen trolley, an integrated electric oven with hob and extractor, a built-in slim dishwasher and a co-ordinated freestanding under the counter fridge and freezer. The kitchen also has a microwave and a washing machine. (a shared dryer is available onsite).

Stylish living area with a large wall-mounted flat-screen TV/DVD, a CD radio/ iPod dock, a settee, armchair, two side tables and a storage style foot stool containing a collection of board games. Furniture is arranged around a cosy electric mock flame/ log effect fire. A cupboard is also available with cleaning/ laundry materials.

Master double bedroom with furnishings including two single wardrobes, a dressing table/ mirror, bedside tables, drawers, a stool and an extra chest of drawers, a TV, hair dryer and a clock radio.
Bedroom 2 with zip and link beds (3ft twin beds) which can be configured as a twin or a super king-size bedroom containing a bedside chest, a wardrobe with drawers and a large chest of drawers which is ideal as a dressing table featuring a mirror and a stool. Additional curtained hanging storage space is available and this bedroom also has a TV/ DVD, clock radio and a hair dryer, with ample room for a cot if needed.
Spacious shower room with a super large walk-in shower (170mm wide), a wash basin, shaver point, light, wall cabinet and wc. A shower seat and a baby bath are available if required.Outside
South Byre has a small open patio area with outdoor furniture which is part of the shared yard with the two other holiday properties.
Allocated parking for one car is onsite.

Families with children are warmly welcomed. We have a range of equipment such as cots, high chairs and a child toilet seat - please request on booking if you require any of these.
Short breaks are available (3 nights weekend and 4 nights midweek) at various times throughout the year - please enquire directly for full availability and best prices. Single night stays can be booked midweek in South Byre off peak.
Reduced rates are available for single occupancy and couples.
Around and About
The charming market town of Penrith with a number of historic attractions, great independent shops, fine inns and restaurants is within easy reach. Popular attractions nearby include Lowther Castle, Brougham Castle, Lakeland Bird of Prey Centre, Lacy's Caves and Mayburgh Henge.
The local village pub, The Dog and Gun, is just a 2 minute walk from the cottage and serves delicious home-made pub food and locally produced drinks.
Pick up classic steam railway rides on the Settle Carlisle Railway running through the valley nearby. The Yard is also ideally placed for exploring the Lakes, just 10.5 miles from Lake Ullswater and 16 miles from Keswick.
From the M6: Leave the motorway at junction 41 and travel West on the B5305 for 2.8 miles. Just after Hutton in the Forest turn left at the junction signposted Blencow and Greystoke. Travel along this lane for 1.7 miles to the crossroads, from here turn right (signposted Skelton). Drive 1.8 miles along this lane to Skelton village crossroads.
Continue straight on, down the hill, 190 metres (0.1 miles) from the crossroads. Pass Greystone House on the right, a cream coloured house with porch and attached stone barn. The entrance to Salutation Yard is on the right immediately after the barn.
On arrival, turn right on to the driveway and stop in front of the black line. Enter the code on the keypad to the right of your vehicle. The gates will then open automatically towards you. They operate via a timer and sensor and will close automatically when the way is clear.
