This single floor thatched cottage comprises an open-plan sitting room with a cosy log burner, a well equipped fitted kitchen and open dining area. A small conservatory/sunroom extends the living accommodation to provide the perfect spot to sit and enjoy a morning cup of tea in the sunshine. With the two bedrooms also on the ground floor, this cottage is additionally well suited to those with limited mobility or those holidaying with very young children. There is a small seating area with furniture outside the cottage. Guests also have access to six acres of grounds, including wild meadows and a small lake (coarse fishing allowed) and are free to wander and enjoy the abundance of wildlife that is encouraged by the welcoming owner. One of three holiday properties on this site, The Thatch is located in the grounds of a 17th century former manor house at Monkton Wyld, just north of the A35 on the Dorset/Devon border. The pretty West Dorset seaside town of Lyme Regis is about 3.5 miles to the south and the attractive East Devon market town of Axminster, home to Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall's popular River Cottage shop and restaurant, is about 4.5 miles to the west. This property is ideally suited to those seeking a countryside location close to the sea, or for walkers who will be drawn to this wonderful location by the wealth of walking countryside right on the doorstep. Visitors wanting to explore the local area will find themselves well placed to easily access the many attractions of East Devon, West Dorset and South Somerset.

All on one level ground floor: Open plan sitting room with TV/DVD/video/CD and log burner, dining area and open plan fitted kitchen with electric cooker, fridge/freezer, microwave and dishwasher. Small sunroom/conservatory. Bedroom 1 with a king size bed. Bedroom 2 with twin beds. Bathroom with bath, shower over bath and w.c. Outside: Open seating area with furniture as well as access to six acres of grounds including meadows, woods and lake.

Central heating and bed linen included. First basket of wood for the log burner provided. Towels available at an additional cost of £6.00 per person - please order when booking. There is space for a travel cot in the double bedroom only (please bring your own or request when booking if required, subject to availability). Free use of a shared utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer on-site. This property is served by natural spring water. Wi-fi access included.
