Lying in the beautiful Eden Valley, between the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales, it is an ideal base to explore their many delights. In an area dotted with historical monuments and outstanding natural attractions, there is something for everyone to enjoy, including excellent local walking, riding, fishing and golf. Kirkby Stephen, 6 miles, is a bustling market town with supermarket, shopping, Tourist Information Centre, library, pubs and restaurants. Appleby, an ancient market town with inns and shops, lies 7 miles away, and also has a public swimming pool. Great Asby (3 miles) has a pub serving food.
