Finglandrigg Wood is also just down the road close to the village of Kirkbampton and is a great spot for a walk.
On the M6 to Carlisle exit at Junction 43 (second Carlisle turn off) and continue along the A69 Warwick Road, past the football ground, and turn right at the lights near the church. Carry on past the college to a big ring road (Hardwick Circus).
Take the sign for the A595 going past the castle, and turn at the small roundabout taking the B5307 heading towards Hospital. Continue for 1 mile and take a right at the fork in the road following signs for Bowness and Burgh by Sands.
Go over the next roundabout and pass through Burgh by Sands (around 2 miles), cross a cattle grid on to Marsh Road. Take the next left into Boustead Hill village, then the second turning on your left under the arches and into the farmyard.
The farm has two large trees in the garden with green and white railings.
Alternatively if you do not wish to go through Carlisle, exit the M6 at Junction 44, take the third Carlisle turn off onto the new western bypass signed for Workington. Carry on past Asda, and keep going across around five roundabouts until you arrive at Burgh by Sands and Bowness on Solway. Then follow the second half of directions above.
