Covering a vast 54 acres, Williamson Park in Lancaster is a spectacular public park overlooking the city with magnificent views across to the Fylde coast, Lakeland and Morecambe Bay. Centrepiece is the eye-catching Ashton Memorial completed in 1909, specially commissioned by Lord Ashton who dedicated the monument to his deceased wife. Adjacent to this glorious building, which features a gallery on the top floor, is the tropical butterfly house, the elegant Pavilion Tea Rooms and an aviary. Kids will love the mini beast enclosure, complete with scorpions and snakes, as well as a the pens of rabbits and chipmunks.
