Families love the West Sussex Coast for its sunny, warm climate, award-winning beaches and fabulous fun seaside resorts including great value Littlehampton and Bognor Regis with its famous Butlins theme park which is open to day visitors. Elegant Worthing, a favourite writing hole of Oscar Wilde, is brimming with beautiful heritage seaside architecture from the pier and pavilion to wonderful seafront gardens and the famous Edwardian Dome Cinema. Of all the arts, it’s theatre and drama that particularly shine in West Sussex with acclaimed venues including Worthing’s Connaught Theatre and the birthplace of the National Theatre Company – Chichester Festival Theatre just inland.

Family friendly Bognor Regis Beach

Family friendly Bognor Regis Beach

The gentle beaches of the West Sussex Coast at Worthing, Littlehampton, Bognor Regis and Selsey are long-standing family favourites with beautiful seafront promenades flanked by amusements, mini theme parks and pleasure boating lakes. At Littlehampton the river estuary of the Arun meets the sea offering a magical mix of harbour attractions including fishing and Lookout viewpoint plus a beautiful beach, theme park, boating lake and mini promenade boat train.

Windsurfing is particularly popular along the West Sussex Coast, especially around Littlehampton, and in the far west you’ll find great diving and fishing territory on the Peninsula at Selsey. Top surfing and kitesurfing conditions are on the award-winning Witterings beaches overlooking Chichester Harbour Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, also a favourite spot for sailing, boat trips and watersports.
