The town of Usk, named after the river it stands on, is overlooked by the enchanting, creeper and ivy-clad ruins of Usk Castle. It’s a romantic Medieval ruin set in peaceful, idyllic surroundings, and together with its gardens which are open to the public is the best reason to visit the town. The grounds are also home to the Usk Natural Burial Meadow and to open fields for horse-riding, archery and simulated game shooting amongst other activities.
Usk is home to the Alice Springs Golf Club, and to the Usk Rural Life Museum. The museum houses over 5,000 artefacts relating to rural and agricultural life, and includes Bessie the life-sized cow offering milking simulation. Usk is the perfect place to visit if you’re looking for a quiet Wales holiday. It offers a little for families with young children, but is more popular with mature holidaymakers and older families. Enjoy boating on the River Usk, or gentle strolls in the Welsh countryside. The town has a variety of choices whether you want catered or self-catered accommodation, and you can book Usk B&Bs, hotels and holiday cottages using our site today.
