Thirsk Racecourse in North Yorkshire is a stunning country flat racing course, one of the UK’s most beautiful courses, situated midway between the North York Moors and Yorkshire Dales. Offering a great Yorkshire Day out for family groups, friends, new racegoers and seasoned racegoers, Thirsk hosts 16 flat racing meets annually and sits along the A61, easily accessed just off the A1 motorway. This Yorkshire Racecourse is famed for its themed family days including a Pirate Family Day and an ‘All Creatures Great & Small’ Family Day. Evening race meets include after racing entertainment – don’t miss the July Jazz Night.

Fixtures & Highlights

There are numerous highlights amongst Thirsk’s 16 race meets in a season spanning April to September. Top events include the early May Thirsk Hunt Cup Meeting, the early August Thirsk Summer Cup Meet and Day and late in the season, the annual Ladies’ Day in September. The Racecourse is also involved in the Summer Yorkshire Racing Festival in July.

Choose from three unique Enclosures here at Thirsk including the Premier Enclosure for the ultimate racing experience with Grandstand seating and viewing plus easy access to the Parade Ring, Winner’s Enclosure and Winner’s Post. A dress code does apply in this the smartest of Thirsk’s Enclosures. The Paddock Enclosure, also known as The Tattersalls Enclosure, includes Grandstand viewing and seating plus access to the Parade Ring and Winner’s Enclosure. Thirsk’s third Enclosure is the Family Enclosure featuring Grandstand viewing and seating plus a range of snack and fast food outlets, bars and for younger racegoers a kids playground.
