The Gower Peninsula

Home to some of the best beaches in Wales and stunning coastal walks, the Gower Peninsula is a superb base for a family beach holiday or walking break. The coastline stretches for 34 miles and covers 70 bays and beaches including the biggest one of Oxwich Bay. Rhossili Bay offers beautiful views over the Atlantic and the walk to Worm’s Head is also particularly scenic but check the tide times first! The north coast of Gower is a haven for bird watching and the peninsula also offers a choice of historical attractions; enjoy a walk around Oxwich Castle or visit King Arthur’s Stone. The Gower Heritage Centre offers a fascinating insight into the history of the Peninsula and offers a good range of onsite gift shops. The pretty town of Mumbles is set at the entrance to the Gower Peninsula and offers over 100 shops and restaurants, beautiful beaches and a thriving nightlife. Visit Gower in June to visit the annual Folk Festival which offers a range of workshops and live music events.

The Gower Peninsula is home to particularly good range of luxury accommodation but there is also a good choice of holiday parks and caravan sites perfect for those on a budget. Or have a look through our listings and look out for great special offers to make your break more affordable. There are plenty of pet friendly cottages available so the family dog can join you on your walks and if you are travelling to Gower on a romantic break, look out for period cottages with wood burner stoves and beautiful coast or country views.
