A beautiful boutique market town in the heart of the West Sussex South Downs, chic Petworth is home to the truly spectacular 17th Century mansion and parkland of Petworth House, with  surrounding 700 acre deer park designed by Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown, containing his distinctive trademark – a serpentine lake.  One of the National Trust’s most popular stately home estates, Petworth contains a treasured art collection featuring work by Turner, Blake and Van Dyck and carvings by contemporary of Wren, Grinling Gibbons. Indeed the house and parkland themselves were popular subjects of the artist JMW Turner.
