Navigable all the way to the sea and located just inland from Lowestoft sits beautiful Oulton Broad surrounded by a choice of family activities, Broadside cafes, restaurants and attractions. This is Suffolk’s most popular Broad, bustling with activity all year round. Lowestoft Museum within Grade II Listed Broad House dating from 1685 is around the Broad and features a fine collection of 18th century Lowestoft Porcelain and local fossil and archaeological finds from the Roman and Anglo-Saxon periods.
Popular with boaters, Oulton is a gateway not just to the sea but onto the River Waveney and the Southern Broads beyond. Ample parking is adjacent and a wide choice of accommodation surrounds this popular site. There’s ample opportunity for sailing, windsurfing, rowing and fishing and on the southern tip of Oulton Broad you’ll find the Carlton Marshes Nature Reserve with visitor centre, The nature reserve covers around 100 acres and features a mixed landscape of fen, peat pools and grazing marsh. Oulton Broad is clearly signposted off the main A12 road at Lowestoft.
