The Black Sheep Brewery, Masham

Masham (pronounced ‘Massam’) is the home of Yorkshire real ale. Two famous Yorkshire breweries are located in this pretty market town on the eastern edge of the Yorkshire Dales. Guided brewery tours exploring the art of craft brewing are available at both the Masham breweries – the Black Sheep Brewery and the Theakston Brewery. Visitors have plenty of opportunity to purchase and sample the fine range of beers in on-site shops, Baa…r & Bistro and visitor centres.

Masham village hosts two great weekly markets on Wednesdays and Saturdays, a tradition here since the Medieval era. Famous annual events include the Masham Steam Engine and Fair Organ Rally across the third weekend in July which always pulls in the crowds. Top beer festivals also take place during the summer months alongside other annual events including an arts festival, Christmas Victorian Market and even a Festival of Horses.

Situated just off the A1(M), within easy reach of the Yorkshire Dales, the North York Moors and Herriot Country, Masham B&Bs, country house hotels and luxury boutique inns are perfect for both business and leisure visitors. Opt for a traditional 17th Century Masham Inn with rooms serving hearty pub meals with Masham’s own Black Sheep and Theakston’s ales! This Yorkshire brewery village borders the pretty Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and offers a selection of fascinating themed walks in its surrounds, from industrial heritage trails to pub walks and circular walks taking in the abbey ruins of Jervaulx.

Golf fans will also find much to please at the 18 hole Masham Golf Club, a beautiful parkland course open to visitors, and perfect for corporate days out. Popular annual events include the great Masham Steam Engine & Fair Orgtan Rally
