Manchester Festivals and events run through the year and cover a huge range of interests and themes from literature and film to science and comedy, music and beer. The annual Manchester Pride is one of the UK’s best and biggest Pride events and expect a host of acclaimed authors in a world class package of performance and talks during the annual Manchester Literature Festival in October.
Manchester’s outstanding collection of arts venues from the Royal Exchange Theatre to the Cornerhouse cinema, Bridgewater Hall concert venue to the Band on the Wall in the Northern Quarter play host to a dazzling range of festival events and first class performance. Key museums and galleries produce and run certain festivals, for example the Museum of Science and Industry organises the 11 day Manchester Science Festival and the acclaimed Viva Spanish film festival is hosted and run by the Cornerhouse.
The celebrated 18 day Manchester International Festival takes place annually across July and features a fantastic mixed programme of live music, theatre, street performance, family activities and more in various city entertainment venues.
Real ale fans won’t want to miss Manchester’s annual January Beer Festival and checkout year round events at cutting edge Manchester venues like the National Cycling Centre. Come Autumn and the end of September into October Manchester kicks off one of the biggest UK urban food festivals and across the Christmas season are the fabulous city centre Christmas markets centred located around the town hall/ King Street, packed with stalls offering an array of European seasonal food and drink flavours.
