Follow your lead directly to Kent and beautiful inland and coastal dog walking territory. Head off along the North Downs Way through the heart of the Kent Downs or along one of the many coastal cliff top paths from the White Cliffs Path on Kent’s Heritage Coast to the Reculver Cliffs Walk. The beautiful Viking Coastal Trail offers spectacular coastal walks with dogs and winds all the way around the Thanet coast for 32 miles taking in Margate, Broadstairs and Ramsgate en-route.

A firm favourite with holidaymakers on four legs, Kent’s High Weald AONB features an extensive network of footpaths including the High Weald Landscape Trail which pushes through the AONB from east to west. Dogs are welcome on the North Downs Way which pushes up from Folkestone and Dover through the heart of the Kent Downs. The advice is always to take care and keep your pet under control around cattle, particularly cows with calves.

A selection of Kent beaches welcome dogs all year round, whilst some are dog friendly outside of peak summer season. Thanet beaches open to dogs all year round include Birchington village’s Grenham and Epple beach bays, in Broadstairs Dumpton Gap and Kingsgate Bay, in Cliftonville the Foreness Point, Palm Bay and Sacketts Gap beaches and at Margate Fulsam Rock. In Ramsgate both Eastcliff and Western Undercliff are year round dog friendly beaches. More great beach and coastal stretches ideal for dog walking include on the North Coast Reculver Beach near Herne Bay and in South Coast White Cliffs Country beautiful Folkestone Warren, a coastal nature reserve. Shakespeare beach near Dover is also dog friendly all year round.
