Holkham Estate & Beach
The award-winning Holkham Estate with hall, nature reserve, beach and various attractions sits just west of Wells next the Sea and is one of the most beautiful locations in the UK. Holkham Beach is a best British award-winning beach which has featured in numerous films, TV dramas and adverts.

Visitors to Holkham beach park up on the edge of a pine forest and a pathway leads through shady pinewoods direct to the beach (5-10 minute walk). The beach is part of the wider Holkham National Nature Reserve which features a mixed landscape of sand dunes, pinewoods, marshes, green pastures, creeks and saltings. The Norfolk Coast Path National Trail runs along the coast in the area.

Other attractions within the Estate include wonderful gardens, museums and the magnificent Holkham Hall, a grand and opulent Palladian hall surrounded by extensive parkland. The Walled Gardens are a highlight, originally laid out by Samuel Wyatt in the late 1700s.
Family attractions include the popular Bygones Museum with exhibits on domestic and agricultural memorabilia, historic toys and vintage cars, heritage steam engines and a beautiful collection of old horse carriages. The parkland at Holkham is home to a large herd of fallow deer and red deer, and there are numerous trails on the estate including a Lake Walk and Nature Trail. Lake cruises also operate across the summer season.

Holkham’s woodland play area is a real favourite with adventurous youngsters and you’ll find various eateries on the estate including a beach cafe and a fine inn with cosy woodburner serving local Suffolk Adnams ales, located near the entrance to the Hall. The estate also has a selection of unique craft, gift and local produce outlets.
