The Grasmere Gingerbread Shop
One of the National Park’s most famous shops, the Grasmere Gingerbread Shop sells its delectable gingerbread made from a recipe first developed by Sarah Nelson in the 1850s. The Grasmere Gingerbread shop is housed within a former village school and the shop also sells a range of Lakeland specialist food and scrumptious home-made rum butter.

Heaton Cooper Studio & Art Shop
Visit the Heaton Cooper Studio and Art Shop in Grasmere and see rich Lake District landscapes painted by William Heaton Cooper and by his father, the Manchester born Alfred Heaton Cooper (1864-1929) who in the late 19th century when the studio was based in Coniston was one of the most famous Lake District landscape painters.
Paintings by other members of the Heaton Cooper family in a more contemporary style are also on display alongside beautiful craft ceramics and endearing sculptures. Original art and prints are available to buy and the gallery sells a quality range of art materials, gifts and an on-site bookshop particularly good for books on Lake District artists and the history of the Heaton Cooper family in the Lake District.
