If you’re feeling that your Devon holiday runs the risk of being taken a little too seriously, then worry no more – the North Devon Gnome Reserve and Wildflower Garden will restore the serious/fun balance!
This attraction at West Putford (near Bradworthy and between Bideford and Bude) is perfect for anyone who enjoys a good giggle. The wild flower garden is crammed full of around 250 species of ferns, grasses and other wild plants, all labelled. There’s also a picnic area in a beautifully maintained spacious cottage garden. And for those who wish to purchase on the premises, there’s the Gnome Kitchen – for sandwiches, drinks, cream teas and snacks including local Dunstaple Farm ice cream. But the stars of the show are obviously the gnomes. Visitors are encouraged to wear gnome hats and carry fishing rods, which adds to the fun enormously. Kids of all ages will have a ball here as there are so many different gnomes hiding and waiting to be found amidst this 4 acre site – there are over 1000 gnomes and pixies to spot! There are also pixies and gnomes to purchase and a collection of antique gnomes to wonder at.
This is a brilliant day out. Come on, loosen up and have a laugh – you’re on holiday! Stay with us in North Devon and visit the Gnome Reserve!
