Furry friends are in for a coast and country treat at dog friendly Llandudno on the North Wales Coast. Voted a top Welsh seaside resort by Bill Bryson (and four legged holidaymakers!), Llandudno contains a tail wag-tastic choice of dog friendly hotels and some great dog walking territory in the Great Orme Country Park. Well behaved dogs on leads are also welcome on the Great Orme Tramway! Or how about a trip around Llandudno’s famous Copper Mines – dogs are welcome in this fascinating underground and overground self-guided attraction in the resort.
Llandudno is a northern gateway into Snowdonia and the perfect holiday base for walking and exploring with your dog! Although restrictions are in place on Llandudno’s two award-winning beaches – North Shore and West Shore – there is a dog exercising area on North Shore, and plenty of walks and trails in the spectacular Great Orme Country Park around the two limestone headlands.
Dog Friendly Hotels
Many pet friendly hotels in Llandudno welcome dogs free of charge, or with a minimal one off charge per pet per stay. Family run and welcoming, classic seaside hotels here often allow dogs into public areas such as bars and guest lounges as well as in rooms. Centrally situated, Llandudno’s pooch friendly hotels are just minutes from the Great Orme Country Park, the long ‘strolling with dogs’ promenade and town centre restaurants, cafes and inns, many of which are also dog friendly.
Dog Friendly Walks
No need to leave the family pet behind – dog friendly Wales welcomes paws on the shores and in Snowdonia National Park. Miles of glorious coast path walking is straight from your dog friendly hotel at Llandudno. The North Wales Path runs for 60 miles along the coast from Bangor in the West to Prestatyn in the east and well trained dogs on leads are welcome on the coast path. Snowdonia, the North Coast, Anglesey and the Llynn Peninsula all right on your doorstep make for perfect walking and touring territory with your dog!
The big attraction for furry friends in Llandudno is the Great Orme Country Park, a Special Conservation area and site of Special Scientific Interest. The panoramic views of the coast and towards Anglesey and the Menai Strait from the top of the Great Orme Summit Trails are not to be missed. Other great walks direct from the resort are along the North Wales Coast path between Colwyn Bay and Llandudno via Little Orme, and take the Coast Path’s inland option to explore Conwy Mountain with its Iron Age hill fort and magnificent views.
