Carnforth Tourist Information

Carnforth Marina
Close to historic Lancaster, the town of Carnforth is an equally pretty but far more peaceful place to stay. The town is close to the M6 motorway and the Lancaster canal, and is surrounded by fields and hills, close to the coast and perfect for walkers and cyclists. The Carnforth Station Heritage Centre is one of the town’s most popular attractions, and gives an insight into the history of Carnforth and its contribution to the wars. It also includes a Thomas the Tank Engine playroom for children, and an exhibition of artefacts relating to the classic film ‘Brief Encounter’, much of which was filmed at the station.
The Greenlands Farm Village offers the chance to play indoors or outdoors, enjoy peaceful picnics or family rides and meet a wide variety of farm animals. It also features a stone paved artisan village, with a selection of shops selling local produce. In nearby Ingleton, the Ingleton Waterfalls Trail offers an 8km walk through woodland, and just a short drive north you’ll find the RSPB Leighton Moss Nature Reserve. Ideal for a holiday or overnight stay – browse Carnforth accommodation with iknow, compare prices and book a stay online.
