The arts venue began life as just a small theatre, growing to its present status as internationally acclaimed arts centre in the Lake District.

Legendary live music bands appear regularly and The Brewery hosts popular acoustic Cumbria live music nights. The Westmorland Music Festival is hosted annually by the venue. Art exhibitions, often with a local Lakeland theme, also feature year round at The Brewery.
The Brewery is a major host venue for a string of Kendal festivals and events including the Kendal Mountain Festival. The range of festival themes include a dynamic programme of street art in the popular Mintfest, Kendal’s International Festival of Street Arts. Other festivals include the four day Comic Art Festival every October, the Kendal Mountain Fest every November and a May comedy festival.
