Brewery Arts Centre

Kendal’s hub venue for the arts is the award winning Brewery Arts Centre offering a year round programme of best cinema, music, comedy, theatre and visual arts. Great cafes, restaurants and bars at the Brewery Arts Centre combined with its plethora of arts offerings make it essentially a mini-entertainment village in the heart of Kendal town centre. The arts venue began life as just a small theatre, growing to its present status as internationally acclaimed arts centre in the Lake District.

The Brewery Arts Centre plays host to a selection of top Kendal Festivals including the Kendal Mountain Festival annually in November. A packed programme of premier Lake District festivals are in Kendal, a town which always has something going on. Top Kendal annual festivals include the Mintfest Kendal International Street Arts Festival and the Kendal Festival of Food annually both in Autumn.

A real hub for the arts and festivals in the Lake District, The Brewery Arts Centre sits in the heart of Kendal town centre. A multi-arts venue housed within Kendal’s character old brewery, The Brewery Arts Centre boasts two on-site cinemas screening a mix of world, art and mainstream film. Mountain adventure films are regularly screened here alongside a packed programme of first class theatre from great drama plays to children’s theatre. The Brewery is a firm favourite on the UK comedy circuit, hosting top name comedy nights all year round.

Lovers of acoustic and live music can enjoy a fantastic programme of acoustic music concerts at The Brewery Arts Centre which regularly feature best acoustic artists which in the past have included John Williams. Legendary live music bands appear regularly and The Brewery hosts popular acoustic Cumbria live music nights. The Westmorland Music Festival is hosted annually by the venue. Art exhibitions, often with a local Lakeland theme, also feature year round at The Brewery.

Festivals

The Brewery is a major host venue for a string of Kendal festivals and events including the Kendal Mountain Festival. The range of festival themes include a dynamic programme of street art in the popular Mintfest, Kendal’s International Festival of Street Arts. Other festivals include the four day Comic Art Festival every October, the Kendal Mountain Fest every November and a May comedy festival.
