A shortlister for Best UK Family Festival, the Beverley Folk Festival at Beverley Racecourse takes place annually in June and always features an impressive line-up of legendary and best new artists, music broadcasters, off the wall comedians, children’s activities and Festival Fringe events across the cathedral town’s many real ale inns and super cool bars. This annual folk festival has been here in Beverley for over 30 years – Patron Mike Harding describes it best as a friendly festival with a cosy atmosphere, yet big enough to book the best in folk and roots music.
About the Festival
The annual Beverley Folk Festival takes place at the town’s racecourse, spreading out into the old pasture land of Beverley Westwood. The festival site includes the village green hosting open air music and dance acts, craft and food/ drink stalls. There’s a Main Stage marquee holding up to 1,500 where you’ll catch the main headliners. The best of up and coming new talent performs in the Concert Marquee. Other spaces include the Wold Top Marquee, an intimate venue serving up Yorkshire’s finest local real ales and hosting The Moonbeams Sessions, best local talent and Youth Performers plus the popular Late Night Festival Club. Head to the Racecourse Rooms with function room and bar, open mic sessions, CD/ instrument stalls, comedy, drama and more. There’s also a Children’s Marque offering a feast of free activities for under 12s. An integral part of the event is the accompanying Festival Fringe with a packed programme of entertainment and events in local pubs and bars – a shuttle bus service is available to transport festival goers to off site fringe venues.
The event takes placed in the Minster town of Beverley in the East Riding area of Yorkshire on the edge of the Wolds. Host venue Beverley Racecourse is only a few minutes’ walk from Beverley town centre, located on the A1079 York Road – postcode HU17 0AB. Leave the car behind if you wish – the town has an excellent local bus and good rail links to Beverley Station.
