About this Unique Holiday Cottage

A unique octagonal romantic retreat for two in the Yorkshire Dales, with panoramic views of the surrounding Wensleydale countryside, The Temple Folly at Swinthwaite is a Grade II Listed 18th Century folly with its very own small wood and provides a unique romantic retreat available for short breaks and weekly bookings.

Built in 1792 for T J Anderson of Swinthwaite Hall. The folly was probably formerly a summerhouse and observatory for ladies watching passing hunts or admiring the views.

Private yet just 30 yards off the main A684 road and only one and a half miles from Aysgarth village, the accommodation is brimming with original features which add to its romance, including two octagonal rooms inter-connected by a stone staircase, a domed ceiling and a balcony with views north towards floodlit Bolton Castle and west towards Lower Force at Aysgarth Falls. Leyburn, Hawes and Askrigg are all within easy reach.

The Temple with original Georgian plasterwork accommodates two guests in wonderfully elegant living space across two floors. On the ground floor, open plan living space includes a kitchen, dining and sitting area.

The kitchen has an electric cooker, microwave and a small fridge with ice box.

The sitting and dining area includes a cosy log burning stove, flatscreen TV/DVD, stylish sofa seating and dining table and chairs for two, plus a beautiful arched window with window seat and spectacular country views.

Bedrooms / Bathrooms

An original stone spiral staircase leads up to the first floor via the open air balcony to the exquisitely romantic bedroom with huge arched windows affording spectacular country views, an original fireplace, a flatscreen TV/DVD player and large king-size double sleigh bed. A modern shower room with wc adjoins the spacious one room living area.

Outside is a private patio area and wooded garden together with access to a small private wood with the remains of a Pleasure Garden!

Other Things to Note

Ample parking is adjacent and our own Berry's Farmshop and Cafe in Swinithwaite is just half a mile walk away.

Sorry no dogs please.

Please contact Mandy on 01969 663096 for availability enquiries. Minimum 3 nights but please enquire for less as sometimes suitable gaps on calendar.
