Candlewyck Luxury Bed and Breakfast in Ulverston sits in the heart of the Southern Lake District and is a former candle factory brimming with character. We're ideally situated in Ulverston, famous for it's Laurel & Hardy Museum and historic cinema. The guesthouse itself is set within 7 acres of land with views up the valley in glorious countryside surroundings, yet with easy access to bustling Ulverston. Windermere and the Central Lake District are just a 20 minute drive away and the Cumbrian Coast is within easy reach.
Luxury accommodation is non-smoking throughout for the comfort of all our guests, and also sorry no dogs (we do like them but they do tend to worry our chickens!). Candlewyck is conveniently open all year round, even Christmas and New Year, however breakfast may be a little late during the festive season!
We offer separate accommodation in the barn which is like having your own private suite, and in the main house there are two king-size double bedrooms in a country house style. Accommodation in the barn and the main house is perfect for families, groups, solo travellers and couples.
All 3 rooms have their own unique style and fabulous antiques tastefully combined with modern furnishings. Each room has White Company bedding and fluffy soft towels, as well as the finest toiletries including Sedbergh Organic Soaps. Space is available for extra beds in all rooms to accommodate children - please advise us when booking.
Breakfasts at Candlewyck B&B are a delight. Guests can expect freshly squeezed fruit juices, cereals and porridge, a choice of teas, and eggs from our very own Candlewyck Wyandotte chickens. The Candlewyck platter includes marmalade sauce for the bacon and exotic wild mushrooms, (if we've been lucky enough to find some) helping to make your visit a memorable one.
With views up the valley, the light and airy surroundings of your room makes it the perfect place to enjoy your breakfast as well as giving you the chance to view abundant wildlife.
Champagne (Veuve Clicquot) can also be ordered for that extra special evening or breakfast treat. We can also prepare a range of evening meals.
Facilities and amenities in the guesthouse are numerous, including a wide screen TV with surround sound and broadband internet connection.
Candlewyck has its own livery yard so if you would like to bring your horse/horses you can ride in some of the most wonderful countryside in the Lake District.
We also have our own small farm with rare-breed pigs which you might spot wandering around our 7 acres!
Rooms are available to guests from 3pm on arrival day. We request departure by 11am unless otherwise arranged by prior agreement.
Children and babies are welcome - Children are charged at £25 per child per night. Prices are per room and include a Full Cumbrian Breakfast and all taxes.
