Situated in the beautiful Brendon Hills in its own sheltered valley, The Cowshed is a high-quality cottage set on a working farm with wonderful walks to be enjoyed right from the doorstep. Perfect for couples, this charming property features contemporary living space with a mezzanine level above and access into an attractive garden.
Facilities for horse riders and walkers can be found onsite and the surrounding area is on home to Clatworthy Reservoir - ideal for fishing breaks. A variety of water sports such as canoeing and sailing can be enjoyed at Wimbleball Lake which is five miles away and our cottage is also very close to the Coleridge Way which is a fifty mile walking and bridleway.
The ancient harbour town of Watchet on the Somerset coast is seven miles north from the cottage and the same distance north west can take you to Wheddon Cross - the highest point in Exmoor National Park. The county town of Taunton is fifteen miles from the cottage.
The open plan living area provides a cosy place to relax and has a wood burner stove, large sofa and ladder leading up to the second mezzanine living area above. Entertainment facilities include a TV, Blu-Ray player and Sonos sound bar. The kitchenette is equipped with a fridge, freezer microwave and toaster. Please note that there is no oven or hob at the Cowshed but a selection of high quality frozen ready meals from Cook will be available in the freezer. An honesty box for payment is provided.
The spacious galleried bedroom is furnished with a double sleigh bed and accessed via a staircase next to the kitchenette area. There is also a large mirror, easy chair, footstool, roof window and quality furnishings. The luxury shower room has a walk in cubicle, WC and hand basin.
The cottage boasts access to a private garden area with bistro table, two chairs and a kettle barbecue. Please note that this area is not enclosed. Off road parking is also available
Guests enjoy use of the onsite tennis courts and there is a drying room for wet coats and muddy boots. There is also a shower to hose down your boots or your dog.
The rental charge includes heating, electricity, Wi-Fi and logs for the wood burner stove. Fluffy towels, quality bathrobes and luxury linen is also supplied.
The kitchenette area comprises a toaster, electric kettle and microwave, please note there is no oven or hob. Home-cooked microwavable meals are available to buy from the freezer.
If you would like to bring your horse, the modern stable block has seven boxes which can be rented on a DIY basis. Straw and hay are provided, and grazing is available on request. Stables are charged at £15 per night - please get in touch for further details.
Short breaks of two nights or more may be available at certain times of the year. The changeover days for the cottage are Monday and Friday.
Two dogs are accepted at an extra charge of £15 each per stay.
