Situated in a peaceful, rural location close to Wheddon Cross, West Huckham Barn is a superb three bedroom retreat for families or walkers exploring Exmoor National Park. The property sits in beautiful grounds which boast fabulous views over the surrounding countryside and is approached by a private, gated drive which is shared with two other dwellings. The last four hundred yards are steep as the drive drops down into the valley to provide the cottage with its wonderful vantage point from the rear. Families are very welcome and the property is also dog friendly by arrangement.
The spacious open plan living area has high vaulted ceilings with painted beams, a mezzanine level above and a range of comfortable sofas around the woodburner stove and TV. The well equipped kitchen with dishwasher is complimented by a nearby utility room housing the washing machine, freezer and extra larder fridge. A family dining area has six chairs and the west facing conservatory offers glorious views over the countryside and evening sunsets.
The mezzanine level forms a second sitting area which can be used as an alternative bedroom space for two people. The double bedroom with ensuite is accessed off this level.
The delightful outdoor space includes a sloping lawn with far reaching country views, two areas of wild flowers and an unfenced pond. There is also plenty of outdoor seating and a footpath runs down one side of the garden and can take guests on a lovely walk to Winsford, via the river Quarme valley.
There is ample parking for two cars on the drive.
The rental charge includes Wi-Fi, heating, electricity, bed linen and towels. A good supply of logs are also provided and additional logs are available in the adjoining barn at a £20 charge.
Please note, that due to the narrow lane, supermarket food deliveries cannot be made to the cottage. There are well stocked supermarkets at both Wheddon Cross and Dulverton which are open long hours.
Two dogs are accepted at a charge of £12 each per stay. Please note that while the garden is enclosed with stock fencing, it is possible for an adventurous dog to get out so supervision should be given as there is likely to be livestock in the nearby fields.
Check in time is after 4pm and check out time is by 10am on your departure day.
The property may be suitable for guests with restricted mobility but not for wheelchair users.
