Situated in the rural countryside between Porlock and Lynmouth, this traditional, detached cottage is the perfect retreat for you and up to 5 of your family and friends. The cottage is nestled in the valley, near to the hamlet of Malmsmead, a short distance from the stunning coastline and South West Coast Path, a route favoured by walkers.
The interior of this beautiful cottage has been recently refurbished to a high standard, and manages to keep the rustic feel, with exposed wooden beams and wood burner.
The open- plan kitchen and dining area benefits from underfloor heating below the flagstones, and is an extension of the original cottage. The sitting room is fitted with a wood- burner for keeping snug on chilly evenings, as well as an open fire.
The 3 bedrooms- a double, a twin and a single room- are furnished to a high standard.
The spacious family bathroom has a bath and shower and attachment, sink and toilet. A further bathroom with a shower can be found downstairs.
This homely cottage boasts a large enclosed garden and patio with furniture, perfect for young children to run around and explore.
Poocks Cottage is pet- friendly, and will take a maximum of 2 dogs for a fee of £25. We request that you refrain from leaving your dogs alone in the property at any time, and please note that they are not allowed upstairs, or on any of the furniture. Strictly non- smoking.
No TV, however you will find various books, jigsaws and games are left for your enjoyment. WiFi is available, however it is not fast enough to stream videos, and is suitable for emails only. Little or no mobile signal, due to the rural location, however a landline is available for guests to use.
Provided are bed linen, blankets, duvets, tea, coffee, milk, sugar, biscuits, washing up liquid and and few toilet rolls. Please note that for daytrips, you will need to provide your own beach towels.
There is a garage that can hold one car- however it is not suitable for cars low to the ground, as the approach is rather steep. Off- road parking directly outside the cottage for 2 cars. Arrival after 4pm, departure by 10am.
Whatever your needs, Poocks Cottage may be available for your holiday- whether short breaks of 3 or 4 nights (off peak) or week long breaks (friday to friday) during peak periods.
Poocks Cottage is approximately 2 miles from the hamlet of Malmsmead, where you can find several homeware and gift shops, as well as the local pub the 'Lorna Doone Arms.' Here you can get a meal, cake and afternoon tea, or enjoy a few drinks beside the river. However, the Lorna Doone Arms is usually closed during the winter.
A further 5 miles out is Porlock, a traditional village where you can pick up amenities.
