A charming Scottish butt'n'ben cottage hideaway, Little Dunbar near Dumfries dates back to the mid 1700s, and was probably occupied during the time of John Paul Jones. The cottage is a former estate workers' cottage, lovingly restored and retaining its heritage character along with new modern comforts. Sleeping four, Little Dunbar sits in a clearing surrounded by mixed woodland with bluebells and primroses in spring, and snowdrops in winter. A choice of pretty walks are direct from your door - Powillimount beach is just 500m from the property! Such is its great photogenic character, the cottage was a star in one of the films previously shot on our Galloway Estate overlooking the Solway Firth.
Access is down a private estate road, the West Avenue, which branches out from Arbigland House into a lane which pushes all the way down to Powillimount beach. Little Dunbar Cottage is dog friendly with an enclosed garden and deceptively spacious open plan living space featuring a cosy woodburner (we include the first basket of logs in your stay). Pine flooring is original, and the cottage has sea views from the front. Off road parking for 2 cars and a secure lockable bike shed with outdoor furniture and a BBQ are also included.
Little Dunbar is one of a selection of beautiful cottages and lodges on the Arbigland Estate - self-catering accommodation on the estate offers over 30 beds, perfect for large groups. Properties are available to hire individually or together for wedding parties, corporate groups, activity getaways and for film crews. We have lots of experience hosting all three. Find out more on our website, or please do call us for more information.
