About this Luxury Bed & Breakfast

Offering luxury 5 Star boutique accommodation in the heart of the North York Moors near Whitby, Eighteen97 Bed and Breakfast in Goathland is a charming period property and a perfect romantic bolthole for adults.  Eighteen97 was originally built as a holiday home for the German classical pianist, Christian Gotlieb Padel, and his initials are still inscribed above the door along with the date of construction.

An award-winning breakfast (with a seasonal breakfast menu) is inclusive in booking and ample parking is onsite.  Guests  are welcome to enjoy a game of quoits in the garden of sit back and admire the views from the terrace.  A cosy sitting room with roaring open fire is the perfect spot to relax during the colder months.  Set in one acre of peaceful gardens and with wonderful views over the moorland, our B&B has three ensuite rooms each brimming with luxury touches and sympathetically styled to the 19th century period of the property.

Guest Rooms

Each room is named after a classical composer and includes a flat screen TV, DVD player, iPod dock, radio alarm and a hair dryer.  Hospitality trays have home-made treats, Yorkshire filtered water plus a selection of tea and coffee.  Contemporary ensuites are finished to the highest standard with white porcelain, travertine marble and ample sumptuous towels, fluffy bathrobes and branded toiletries.

  • The Elgar Room is our master room with nickel iron king-size bed and a comfortable seating area with sofa.  A picture window affords panoramic views across surrounding moorland, and this room has a spacious, modern ensuite bathroom with a deep bath and separate shower cubicle.
  • The Vivaldi Room is furnished in an enchanting Italian style and features a beautiful silver console dressing table, an ornate mirror and a king-size upholstered bed dressed in aubergine velvet.  This room looks out over the garden and has an ensuite with large shower cubicle.
  • The Ravel Room with views across the garden, is furnished in a French country style with vintage floral peony fabrics.  The room has a kingsize whitewashed bed and there is an super indulgent gilt and white marble dressing table.  Your ensuite compliments with a large walk-in shower cubicle finished in cool travertine and white porcelain.

Award-winning Breakfast

A delicious Yorkshire breakfast made from the finest locally sourced produce is served in our attractive dining room overlooking the garden.  Menu choice includes a range of cereals, seasonal fruits from our orchard, yoghurt, nuts and seeds.

A selection of special seasonal breakfasts plus a mouth-watering range of lighter bites are served, and your breakfast is accompanied by home-made toast, tea and coffee from Taylors of Harrogate and local preserves from Rosebud of Masham.

Special picnic hampers can be provided for a romantic afternoon or we can also supply lunches for our guests heading out to explore the surrounding North Yorkshire Moors.  A supper menu is available by prior arrangement - please enquire for details of our fabulous fireside supper package available in the winter months.
