A chocolate box cottage on the southern edge of Exmoor, The Old School House at Brushford is the former home of a Victorian Headmaster, and nestles adjacent to the 13th century village church. Appointed to a high standard, the cottage contains many original features including a small bread oven in the dining room fireplace. The garden is fully enclosed with pretty wooden furniture and a BBQ is available. One well trained dog is welcome for a small fee of £25, and plentiful free parking is just to the front of the property. The cottage is strictly non-smoking.
The Old School House sleeps 6 guests in 3 bedrooms including 2 doubles both with large king-size beds and a twin bedroom. Dating from the 1830s, the cottage is a charming blend of period/ traditional features and modern comforts. Free WiFi is throughout and living space includes a sitting room and dining room, a well equipped kitchen/breakfast room, a study and a utility room with ample boot and clothing storage space. The kitchen contains an electric range cooker, a combi microwave, a dishwasher, fridge, a washer/ dryer, a fridge, freezer and a hoover. An iron and board are in the boot room.
A courtyard area just off the kitchen contains a Weber BBQ, and cottage facilities include WiFi, Egyptian cotton bed linen and fluffy white towels, an HD TV, a DVD and an iPod dock. All electric and heating are included in booking price. The cottage has cosy oil-fired heating, and woodburners feature in the dining and living room areas. We supply a starter basket of logs plus kindling in autumn/ winter. A selection of tea, coffee, sugar, cake and flowers are also available on arrival along with essentials such as toilet rolls and washing up liquid. Arrival is from 4pm, departure by 10am.
