About this Bed and Breakfast

Brooklands Guest House is a traditional family run B&B on the outskirts of Bowness on Windermere in the heart of the Lake District.  The guest house dates from the 19th century and is built of local stone with fabulous views of the surrounding fells and Lake Windermere.  We have five beautifully furnished en-suite rooms and hearty full cooked breakfasts are inclusive in your stay.  The many specialist shops, inns, cafes and fine restaurants in Bowness on Windermere village centre are just a short 10 to 15 minute walk away.  We're also within easy walking distance of Bowness Bay and boat trips on Lake Windermere.  Attractions including The World of Beatrix Potter and the Arts & Crafts House Blackwell are also close by.

Guest Rooms

Our five guest rooms include single, double, twin and family rooms (sleep 3 and 4) all with en-suite facilities, free WiFi, colour TVs with Freeview and tea and coffee making facilities.

A cot can be placed in rooms free of charge on request, and all rooms are equipped with central heating keeping them nice and cosy during the winter months.

Rooms 5 and 6 have small outside seating areas which are perfect spots to relax in.

Breakfast is served daily in the dining room from 8.30am with plenty of options available including Karen's delicious Lakeland breakfast guaranteed to set you up for the day.  Lighter options are also available and special diets are happily catered for on request.  Packed lunches are also available on request.

Other Facilities

A spacious guest lounge includes a collection of books, games, toys and local guides.

Around and About

Brooklands is ideally placed for exploring the National Park, just a stone's throw from the Windermere Ferry across to Hawkshead and Beatrix Potter Country, and within easy reach of William Wordsworth's historic homes around Ambleside.  Gentle walks including the family friendly and dog friendly Cockshot Point Stroll are also straight from the door.

Special to Brooklands Guesthouse

Two free fishing permits are available to guests staying two nights or more!

Continue along the A590 to the A591 bypass and a large roundabout on the edge of Kendal.  Take the first exit signed for Hawkshead via the ferry.

Continue on for about 7 miles passing through Crook village, and past Windermere Golf Course.  Stay on this road until you reach a T junction.  At the junction take a left turn and Brooklands is 20 yards along on the left.

From Bowness, at the mini roundabout head towards the lake.  Take a left turn at Vinegar Jones (fish & chip shop) onto Kendal Road.  Continue for about half a mile and you will arrive at Brooklands on your left.

If you do miss the turning and the lake is to your right, continue on until you reach the Hawkshead ferry turning on your right.  Just past this turning on your left is Longtail Hill.  Turn here at the junction and Brooklands is directly opposite.
