The Cottage is located in the attractive hamlet of Soutergate, one of three hamlets around main village Kirkby in Furness. The property is a 350-year-old traditional slate built cottage on the edge of the Lake District National Park and is also ideally situated for exploring the Lakeland Peninsula and Cumbrian Coast.
Tastefully decorated and furnished throughout, we provide the perfect destination for keen walkers, cyclists and lovers of the great outdoors. The Cottage accommodates up to six people and is well equipped for a self-catering holiday. It has a fitted kitchen, an off road parking space and a patio area suitable for morning coffee and barbeques. We are situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty within the Duddon Estuary and the beach is an 8 minute walk away.
The Lakeland towns of Coniston and Ulverston are nearby, and within 25 minutes you can drive to Windermere/Bowness. Pets are welcome at The Cottage.
The Cottage has outdoor areas to the front and back of the property where you can enjoy the sunshine, morning and afternoon. The patio area is superb for morning sunshine with a bench and table.
Via the stable door in the kitchen is an area for a BBQ or glass of something, the sun is on the back in the evenings. The road through the hamlet goes down to the beach and estuary with the Ravenglass Railway line running along the sea. It is an 8-10 minute walk from The Cottage.
The Cottage has full central heating throughout and the added bonus of a woodburner in the lounge area. There is a parking space for 1 car at the rear of the property and the hamlet has a large car park for approximately 15 cars/boats etc. Bed linen for 6 guests is provided with a bathmat and hand towels too. A full cleaning service is included in the price at the end of your holiday.
"The Cottage is an ideal location for an adventure-filled stay. We did the zip-wires at Go-Ape in Grizedale, hiked up Scafell Pike and went sailing on Coniston Water. Beach walks at Silecroft are beautiful, also sunset views on the estuary - a five minute walk up behind the cottage. Great place to return to in the evenings - good amount of space to relax in and everything we needed to cook for our family group of five adults. The log-burner is lovely as well. Thanks!" - Julia from Farnham, Surrey, August 2017.
"We had a really lovely stay for my Husbands 50th birthday. Easy to find, great location and only a short drive from some of the most popular walking spots. Gorgeous cosy cottage, comfy beds, well equipped kitchen. Thanks and I hope we can come back one day". - Rachel & family, April 2017.
