About these Luxury Apartments

Rated 3* Gold by the Tourist Board, St Mary’s, 4 Wellington Gardens is situated on the well kept grasslands of the West Hill, overlooking the old town, fishing harbour and the sea. Hastings Castle is at the same elevation about 200 yards to the west and the St Clements Caves and the Smugglers Caves are at a similar distance to the east. The house is located on a well known beauty spot and a stay in these surroundings is very pleasant indeed. Near the house is a lift which takes one down to, or up from, the sea front. The town centre is a few minutes walk down Castle Hill Road and from most windows there is a wonderful view of the sea.

St Mary's is the old rectory of St Mary's Star of the Sea church in the Old Town. It is a large Victorian building, still with original features and still having a cosy family feel about it. Quite often our holidaymakers are surprised by the large, airy rooms and the wonderful views from the first and second floor windows. The ground floor flat has the largest rooms and a small enclosed garden, which is ideal for dogs or they have the lawns of the West Hill area. We have many regular customers who have been coming for years and we hope that you will enjoy the house as much as they do.  We strive to make your stay as pleasant and enjoyable as possible. Fresh flowers, tea and coffee are supplied on arrival to help you settle in and relax into your holiday.

All the luxury apartments are one bedroom (all of which have recently had new, luxury mattresses and beds), with extra sleeping arrangements available. They all sleep 2/4 people. The flats are fully furnished, self-catering units and are 3* Gold rated by the Tourist Board. They all have baths with showers and a fully equipped kitchen. There are washer/dryers available on two floors, for the use of the guests. There is constant hot water and central heating is available all year round.

Special to St Mary's Holiday Apartments

Dogs are allowed in the ground floor flat, as there is a small garden, but the house is also surrounded by large tracts of grass, stretching down to the Old Town. We will be there to welcome you on arrival, show you the flat and answer any questions you might have. We do not live on site, but are at the end of the phone and are happy to help you at any time. Prepare to enjoy the wonderful views over the fire hills, the Old Town and the sea, with Hastings Castle peeping through behind us.

Availability information

The apartments are available to book all year round.  Short breaks are offered (minimum stay is 2 nights).


When arriving by car, taxi or walking go towards Hastings Castle. We are situated just behind it in a row of 4 houses (WELLINGTON GARDENS). St Mary's is the last on the end nearest the grassland. Parking is metered all round from 9am - 8pm, but if you go further up the hill, near the children's playground, then all the parking around there is still free and only 2/3 minutes away from the house. If arriving by car and you have a sat nav, then please enter TN34 3RL for directions (also handy for the taxi drivers!).
