About this Apartment

Situated just a five minute walk from Bassenthwaite Lake, Lords Seat Apartment in Thornthwaite is a charming property set in a former 17th Century coaching inn. Enjoy a scenic choice of walks nearby and a cycle way passes right by the door. The apartment offers wonderful country views and modern accommodation comprising of three bedrooms, parking for three cars, a fully fitted kitchen and large shared garden.

Short breaks are available during off peak times & we also offer reduced rates for parties of two or four people. Families with children over eight are welcome at the apartment.


The accommodation at the apartment comprises of two double bedrooms, including one with an ensuite shower room, a twin bedroom and a family bathroom with spa bath and shower over.

Living accommodation

The fully fitted kitchen offers superb facilities for a self catering break including a washing machine, tumble dryer, fridge, freezer, electric oven and solid wood Poppy Oak units with solid granite work tops. There is a small breakfast bar area which enjoys views over Barf & Whinlatter.

The lounge offers a feature fireplace with gas fired stove, comfortable leather sofas, TV, DVD player and a CD player with MP3 & iPod dock. The oak dining suite offers seating for six. In the hallway, there is hanging space & storage for outdoor gear.

There is a bus service which stops outside Swan House which takes you to Penrith, Keswick, Cockermouth & Workington. The apartment offers beautiful views over the surrounding area including Skiddaw, along the valley to Keswick, Barf & Whinlatter. Sailing and fishing can both be enjoyed at Bassenthwaite Lake and the southern tip of the lake is a designated wildlife sanctuary where many forms of wildlife including the famous Bassenthwaite Ospreys can be spotted.
