About Rains Farm Holidays

Peacefully situated just six miles from the ancient market town of Pickering, Rains Farm offers an award winning range of newly refurbished cottages in a tranquil, rural setting. Ideal for exploring the North York Moors and coast, our beautiful farm is a haven for wildlife and many fantastic activities can be enjoyed in the surrounding countryside such as mountain biking in Dalby Forest, walking through the Moors, fishing, golf and horse riding. Alternatively take a day trip to famous coastal towns such as Staithes, Scarborough or Whitby with its famous Abbey and 199 steps. The historic City of York can also be found just a thirty minute drive away.

To prepare for 2019, we have recently completed a major refurbishment of our holiday cottages and all of our properties are individually furnished, decorated and maintained to the highest standards. Couples, outdoor activity groups and families with older children are welcome but please note that we do not accept pets.

Our Cottages

Dating from the 17th century, Dove Cottage is perfect for couples with one double bedroom with king-size bed and ensuite with walk in shower. There is also a large open plan living area/ kitchen full of interesting features such as the original fire range, side oven and old brick nesting boxes high up on the walls. The large window in the lounge allows guests to enjoy beautiful views over the Vale of Pickering and National Park. Sleeps 2.

For slightly larger groups, Orchard Cottage was formally the farm's milking parlour and boasts exceptionally spacious rooms. The bedrooms at this single storey property are presented as one double and one twin which share use of a newly fitted bathroom with walk in shower (approx 4 inch step) and a comfortable height toilet. The charming living accommodation includes the original bread ovens from the farmhouse, exposed stone walls and huge arched window overlooking the Wolds. Sleeps 2-5.

Perfect for up to five people, Primrose Cottage was converted from an old stone barn which was later used as the grain store. The huge picture window in the lounge overlooks the Vale of Pickering and North Yorkshire Moors National Park. The bedrooms are presented as a double, twin and single which share use of a family bathroom with overhead electric shower. There is also a ground floor cloakroom plus vanity units in the double and twin bedrooms. Sleeps 2-5.

Wren Cottage is ideal for up to four people and this former stone stable retains many original features including exposed stone walls and old beams. The two bedrooms, one double and one twin, share use of a modern bathroom with overhead electric shower, WC and hand basin. The floor to ceiling windows in the living area boast magnificent views over the Vale of Pickering and the hills of the National Park. Sleeps 2-4.

Granary Holiday Cottage is full of old world charm with many large old beams and two huge picture windows overlooks the Vale of Pickering and National Park. There is one double bedroom with a king-size bed plus a further twin room and a family bathroom with overhead electric shower, WC and hand basin. Sleeps 2-4.

Entertainment facilities in our cottages include a wide screen HD digital Freeview TV, a DVD player, iPod docking station and CD player.
