Welcome to the Allan Ramsay Hotel in Carlops, a peaceful 18th century coaching inn dating from 1792 which is named after a celebrated Scots poet. Guests can enjoy a peaceful overnight stay in one of our well appointed guest rooms and our bar is the ideal stop off point for walkers exploring the beautiful surrounding hills. Visitors can also experience delicious cuisine created from locally produced ingredients which is served in our atmospheric restaurant with open fire.
Our four bright guest rooms are set on the upper floor and all have private ensuite bathrooms, tea/ coffee making supplies, a hair dryer, central heating and a TV. Linen and towels are supplied and we can also provide ironing facilities and a cot on request. We offer accommodation for solo guests, couples, three adults and family groups of up to two adults and two children. All rates include a full Scottish breakfast.
Our candle-lit restaurant has a small library and retains plenty of period charm. We serve a modern Scottish menu for lunch and dinner which is created using the best in season Scottish borders produce. Guests can also relax with a drink in our well stocked bar which holds a fine selection of Scottish Malts and enjoy some traditional Scottish music played by reputable local musicians.
Stays from one night are accepted and single occupancy stays are welcome. We are pet friendly by prior arrangement.
We are situated ten miles south of Edinburgh on the A702 road into the City. Edinburgh Airport can also be found a twenty five minute drive away. Our inn is surrounded by the peaceful scenery of the Pentland Hills which is ideal for hill walking and made famous by the 18th century Scottish poet, Allan Ramsay.
