Rusholme Grange is a lovely 3 Star cottage within a small working farm alongside the River Ouse, surrounded by open countryside. Spacious accommodation sleeps 4/5 guests with space for a cot, ideal for families. York and Hull are only 35 minutes away and the cottage is ideally located for Yorkshire racecourses at York, Doncaster, Pontefract, Wetherby and Beverley. The North York Moors, the Yorkshire Dales and the Yorkshire Coast are all within an hours drive.
Eight wind turbines, part of Rusholme Windfarm, are within the farm and guests are welcome to walk right up to them. We harvest electricity from these, and use a ground source heating pump to heat the buildings. We also have a small livery with friendly horses onsite and the cottage is just a 30 minute stroll from Drax village with a welcoming pub and historic church. Further afield you'll find more pubs in Camblesforth village as well as takeaways and a fish and chip shop.
A beautiful orchard is to the rear of the cottage (please pick your own apples in the autumn if you wish). A spacious lawned garden is to the front where children can play. Guests can also make use of the superb BBQ included in the cottage amenities.
Wi-Fi internet access is available. Cots, high chairs and a treasure chest of toys are provided. Please note that we do not accept pets.
In spring lambs graze along the riverbank, and our rape seed harvest creates a sea of bright yellow. On the farm we mainly grow wheat which is harvested in August.
We're ideally located for touring the North Yorkshire coast and countryside. A nature trail is around nearby Drax Power Station which also offers guided tours. Take a tour of nearby Selby Abbey, the largest parish church in England.
The city of York and 'City of Culture' Hull are around 35 minutes away with a wealth of historic attractions and museums, and to the west is the city of Leeds with attractions including the Royal Armouries.
The pretty small market town of Howden on the south bank of the River Ouse is well worth a visit, with other nearby attractions including The Waterways Museum in Goole and the RSPB Reserve in Blacktoft Sands.
Rusholme Grange is situated on the banks of the River Ouse outside the village of Drax, just 5 minutes from Junction 36 on the M62.
