About Bagdale Hall Hotel & Restaurant

Situated in the heart of Whitby close to the train station, Bagdale Hall and Restaurant is an atmospheric Tudor Manor House which dates back to 1516.  Set just a short walk from the harbour, Abbey and town centre, we offer a high level of service and a fine range of facilities including private parking, a restaurant serving locally sourced cuisine and free Wi-Fi.  We are ideal for both family holidays and romantic breaks with a charming range of period accommodation to choose from.

Free car parking is provided at all three buildings and meals are taken in the restaurant at Bagdale Hall.  In room facilities include a flat screen TV, central heating, direct dial telephone, complimentary toiletries and tea/ coffee making supplies.

Bagdale Hall

Six ensuite guest rooms are available within Bagdale Hall all full of historic charm and original features including beamed ceilings and stone mullioned windows.  Five rooms have stunning four poster beds and each has its own unique style.  Some rooms have spectacular fireplaces and all are decorated with warm, comfortable furnishings.  Facilities include a large TV with remote control, a hospitality tray with tea and coffee making facilities, a telephone, hairdryer and a trouser press.

No 4 Bagdale

Situated close to Bagdale Hall, this charming Georgian townhouse has a grand, imposing facade and features include high ceilings and a Palladian stained glass window to the rear.  There are eight guest rooms all with four poster beds, ensuite facilities with a bath or shower room, a colour TV, central heating and a hospitality tray with tea and coffee making facilities.  We also have family rooms accommodating two adults and either one or two children.  Ample free parking is also situated to the rear of Number 4 Bagdale.

The Lodge

The Lodge is a spacious detached Georgian house with twelve double ensuite rooms.  Formally known as Lobster Hall, the property offers modern and bright rooms which still retain the influence of their original 18th century style.  Free parking is to the rear.

Local Whitby caught fish and the finest cuts of meat, poultry and game are served in our restaurant.  Our dishes are accompanied by the best seasonal vegetables and all meals are prepared under the supervision of our highly experienced chef.  We also serve a carefully chosen wine list and we can cater for vegetarians or guests with special diets by arrangement.

Historic Bagdale Hall with three beautiful period buildings is the perfect choice for weddings receptions and wedding party accommodation.  Outstanding wedding packages include full table service and hire of the restaurant for Wedding Breakfast, assistance from our in-house Wedding Co-ordinators, use of the hotel bar and parking.  We'll happily recommend local weddings services and suppliers we have links with from florists to hair salons and limousine hire.  Please do call us to discuss your requirements and tailor-made packages.

Our room rates include a full breakfast.  We are open throughout the year including Christmas and New Year.

Around and About

The hotel is the ideal base for a break on the Yorkshire Coast and close to famous Whitby attractions including the Abbey ruins and 199 steps.  Bagdale Hall is perfect for festival breaks - the town hosts numerous festivals from folk festivals to the famous Whitby Goth Weekends.  The North York Moors National Park is just on your doorstep, and you can pick up steam trains from the nearby station running through the heart of the National Park through Goathland (also known as Heartbeat Country) or up through the scenic Esk Valley.
