About this Boutique Bed and Breakfast

One of Cornwall's most unique guest houses, Commonwood Manor sits in a spectacular location on the hillside above Looe on the South East Cornish Coast.  Boasting glorious views of the Looe river valley, and featuring an outdoor swimming pool and extensive event space, this stunning venue offers affordable luxury and is perfect for weddings, family stays, romantic escapes, activity days and corporate events.  The guest house is also a superb site for film locations and an in-house dedicated team of staff is always on hand to assist.

A real Cornish stay with all modern comforts, outstanding service and great value for money is assured - hosts Louise, Simon and their friendly, professional team offer the warmest of welcomes.  Guest rooms are spacious and en-suite with fabulous views over the river Looe and if you're looking for that dream wedding venue, Commonwood Manor is the perfect intimate venue with ample space for a grand marquee on our croquet lawn.  We're licensed for Civil Wedding Ceremonies with exclusive hire of the manor and grounds available for events, receptions and weddings.

The manor is located in a breathtaking setting in the Looe Valley, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.  Sandy beaches, water sports, fishing trips and canoeing as well as glorious coastal walking and some of Cornwall's best restaurants are just on your doorstep in Looe and Polperro.

Each room is elegantly presented with its own individual style and full en-suite facilities, a flat-screen TV, hair dryers, alarm clocks and WiFi internet access.  Complimentary fine toiletries are provided along with a selection of tea and coffee making facilities, hot chocolate, fresh milk and fruit/ herbal teas.

Luxurious en-suites also feature fluffy soft dressing gowns and almost all our guest rooms have a stunning river, garden or woodland view.  Beds are made up with freshly laundered Egyptian cotton bed linen and we'll happily supply hypo-allergenic pillows on request.

Breakfast is a real treat served from 8.30am to 10am in Winter and 8am to 9.30am in Summer in our spacious light and airy dining room with views of the terrace and Looe river valley beyond.

Where possible ingredients are locally sourced including our breads, pastries, eggs, fresh fruits and meats.  Some of our produce including our fresh coffee, delicious cheeses and cured meats are sourced from Italy.  Take your breakfast in the dining area or on the terrace with fabulous views on warmer days.  A sample breakfast menu is available to view on our website.

Fine Wines

Why not sit back, relax and enjoy one of our fine wines during your stay.  All our wines are carefully selected by host Simon who holds a Diploma from the Wine and Spirit Trust and has over 10 years experience in the wine trade.  We're also keen supporters of local brewers and cider makers.  Please do visit our website (link right) to view our sample wine and drinks list.

For the wedding of your dreams in a magical Cornish coast and country setting choose Commonwood Manor.  The Victorian manor, which has been tastefully modernised, is rich in history, built by an Italian musician.

Exclusive hire of the venue is available for however long you wish and we have 8 en-suite bedrooms.  We also offer one of Cornwall's best kept wedding secrets.......Wedding packages which include getting married on Looe Island!  For more information download our wedding brochure on our website.

Activities - Wine Tasting, Walking & Golf

Enjoy some of the best wine tasting appreciation courses in Cornwall during your stay here at Commonwood Manor.  Evening tastings or weekend courses are offered featuring exceptional food, wine and good conversation.

We warmly welcome walkers all year round with self-guided or guided walking holidays available.  Walks begin from Looe and there are miles of spectacular coast path, secluded coves, woodland, river valley and tree-clad creeks to explore.

Keen golfers will feel more than at home in the Looe area.  Nearby Looe Golf Club dates from 1935 and in partnership with the club we offer golfing short breaks which won't break the bank.  Your Golf weekend away package includes 2 rounds of golf at Looe Golf Club, one 2 hour lesson, accommodation with full breakfast in one of our luxury river facing superior bedrooms and a delicious 3 course supper both nights of your stay.

Rooms with two sharing start from £90 per night.  Cots and fully sprung Z-beds are available to hire in some rooms and we also have some dog friendly rooms.  Dogs are welcome for an additional charge of £5 per night.

When arriving from the east take the A38 from Plymouth over the Tamar Bridge.  After 11 miles take a left onto the A374 signed for Looe.  After 1.3 miles take a right onto the A387 also signed for Looe.

After 3.2 miles carry on to the B3253 and then continue another 3.2 miles.  You'll see Commonwood Manor on the left hand side as you descend down the hill into Looe.
