Monday, September 28th, 2009

Listed Building, the Norfolk Royale Hotel in Bournemouth, recently underwent a multi-million pound investment; the largest investment ever made by owners English Rose Hotels

The Story

Once the 19th century summer home of the Duke of Norfolk, The Norfolk Royale Hotel is a 4-star hotel; perfectly positioned in the heart of Bournemouth.

In 1974, the Bournemouth hotel qualified for listed building status and it was completely updated in 1988, when an extra block was built.

The 17th Duke of Norfolk, Miles, was at the reopening of the hotel, where he unveiled a commemorative blue plaque attached to the building.

Now owned by English Rose Hotels, the Norfolk Royale is being restored to its original Edwardian grandeur.

The Progress

August saw the completion of a multi-million pound refurbishment programme at the property, where the entire second floor of the hotel was refurbished to a luxury 4 star standard.

This has provided, in total, 38 rooms which have been transformed into a new high-class category to be known as ‘Club Rooms’; now arguably the finest accommodation in Bournemouth.

The Results

English Rose Hotels had been listing all their Yorkshire hotels on iknow-yorkshire for over three years and were receiving over 100 enquiries per month.

With such a high number of enquiries, their Marketing Manager was enquiring about www.iknow-dorset.co.uk before it was even launched. He wanted to be the first on the list to add their Dorset property.

As the first enquiries start to filter through, the Norfolk Royale is making grand plans for some fantastic Christmas and New Year offers.

“Whilst putting together some research on our top referring sources of 2007, it became apparent that the iknow website was supplying us with a staggering 100 enquiries per month.

This prompted us to immediately upgrade all our hotels to platinum membership.”
