Lake District

Lake District Accommodation

Lake District Accommodation, Ambleside, Windermere, Grasmere, Keswick Accommodation

There are various different types of Lake District accommodation that can be found all across the region. This can include hotels and B&B’s as well as cottages and apartments. Each different type of accommodation has its own unique benefits, as well as disadvantages. Keswick accommodation is very popular with those travelling to see the Keswick film or beer festivals, both of which are held annually. Ambleside accommodation is also plentiful and Ambleside is to be found at the head of Lake Windermere. Windermere accommodation itself is very popular and can be used to refer to properties around the lake, or to those in the town of Windermere which is actually around about half a mile away from the lake. Windermere is the largest lake in the Lake District, although Grasmere is also very popular with tourists. Like Windermere, Grasmere can be used to refer to the lake as well as to the nearby village, with those looking for Grasmere accommodation encouraged to check specifically where it is that they would like to stay.

Lake District Hotels: Keswick Hotels, Windermere, Ambleside, Penrith, Grasmere, Kendal, UK

Lake District hotels are perhaps the most highly sought after form of accommodation in the region. Hotels offer short term lodgings as well as a variety of other services. Keswick hotels can vary in size and style, with both independent hotels and those belonging to major hotel chains operating in the area. Some Windermere hotels will be significantly more expensive than others, and those that are the dearest will normally be rated at four or five stars out of a possible five – reflecting their superior standards of service and facilities. Most modern Ambleside hotels will have TV’s in all guest rooms, as well as facilities like air conditioning, phones, mini-bar and wi-fi internet. One could also expect such facilities at Penrith hotels. Penrith is located just outside of the Lake District National Park and is renowned for the large number of public houses situated there!

Lake District Cottages: Cumbrian Cottages, Keswick, Ambleside, Windermere Cottages

Self catering Lake District cottages are immensely popular with visitors to the lakes. They are ideal for families and groups as well as for couples on romantic breaks or weekends. It is worth considering that the facilities in Cumbrian cottages will vary from cottage to cottage and so visitors should have a clear idea of what they desire from a property before making any bookings. Some Keswick cottages and other cottages in the Lakes may be isolated and could be located in a more remote setting than others, and whereas these might be more suitable for couples on a romantic retreat, families with young children might prefer somewhere more central. Most cottage owners will allow children in their property, although not all will permit people to bring their pets with them. This applies to Ambleside cottages as well as to cottages across the Lake District and Cumbria. Windermere cottages near to the lake are extremely popular with tourists, many of whom enjoy the glorious walks in the area.

Bed and Breakfast Lake District: Bed and Breakfast Keswick, Windermere, Kendal, Grasmere

Bed and breakfast Lake District accommodation is that with the capability to provide rooms for the evening as well as a breakfast the following morning. For Lake District bed and breakfast Keswick is a popular choice, and Keswick bed and breakfast can be had at hotels, guest houses and B&B’s, for example. Bed and breakfast Windermere properties are also fairly successful and will usually offer quite reasonable rates. Bed and breakfast Kendal accommodation offers the opportunity to stay in the town that brought us the Kendal Mint Cake! Bed and breakfast Grasmere properties are abundant within the small village, and many visitors choose to visit Grasmere as an alternative to Windermere.

Self Catering Lake District, Self Catering Keswick, Windermere, Ambleside

Self catering Lake District accommodation is very popular amongst visitors to the Lake District and it often enables them to save money by cooking and preparing their own meals. Self catering Keswick properties include the likes of cottages, flats and apartments, caravan and campsites, and holiday parks. Families and groups in particular might benefit from choosing a self catering accommodation option – and they can use the money that they save to sample a greater variety of activities whilst in the Lake District.

B&B Lake District: B&B Keswick, Windermere, Ambleside, Kendal

B&B Lake District accommodation is a specific variety of bed and breakfast accommodation, in which people can book a room for the night, and wake up to a hearty breakfast in the morning. Visitors to the region might consider a B&B Keswick offers, and whilst the property itself is likely to be fairly small, you are likely to receive a more personalised service in a B&B. A Windermere B&B may be able to accommodate up to around 6 people at once, with guest houses able to host a few more. The two share a category on iknow-lakedistrict however, as they are otherwise very similar. B&B Ambleside properties are often family-run, and at a B&B Kendal offers, as well as those across the Lakes, one can expect a friendly welcome from the staff.

Campsites, Lake District Camping, Keswick, Windermere Holiday Parks, UK

There are many campsites Lake District offers, and these are an excellent, affordable option for families and groups of people who are prepared to cook for themselves or eat out for the duration of their stay. Keswick campsites will normally have a selection of tents or static caravans on site, with the option for people to bring their own caravans if they do so wish. Windermere campsites will have many on-site facilities to keep both adults and children entertained, whilst you will usually find a number of off-site attractions nearby.

Lake District Short Breaks and Lake District Weekend Breaks

There is now an increasing tendency for people to visit the Lake District at the weekend. Lake District short breaks can be enjoyed at cottages, in B&B’s and hotels. There might also be special offers for Lake District weekend breaks available at selected accommodation providers. These may be aimed specifically at walkers or those looking to enjoy water sports at Windermere or Grasmere.

Romantic Break Lake District, Romantic Breaks Lake District, UK

For a romantic break Lake District style, there are a number of options. Cottages are a great place for couples to stay, and can offer the seclusion and privacy that one might require. Romantic breaks Lake District offers can be enjoyed in all forms of accommodation including many historic properties close to local walks and beautiful scenery.
