Welshpool

Welshpool is the fourth largest town in Powys located near the Welsh/English border in the pretty upper Severn Valley. Attractions in and around this attractive market town include the medieval Powis Castle and walks on the nearby Offa's Dyke Path National Trail. The Powysland Museum documents the history of the town dating back to prehistoric times or you can explore the historical displays at Powis Castle including the artworks in the Elizabethan Long Gallery. Take the family on a scenic train ride along the Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway or enjoy walking around the gardens at nearby Glansevern Hall and Gardens.

The town is ideally placed for exploring the borderlands and Welsh Marches dotted with ruined castles and fortifications. A Heritage Trail around the centre takes in the many historical buildings of interest including timber-framed 16th century coaching inns. This agricultural centre also has a fine selection of specialist shops selling fresh local produce, arts and crafts. Outdoor activities in the area are extensive ranging from golf, fishing, walking and cycling to horse riding and quad trekking.

Welshpool and its surrounding countryside offer a diverse choice of accommodation including welcoming B&Bs in the town centre and family friendly holiday cottages ideal for a relaxing break. Choose from a range of period properties, some with hot tubs and wood burner stoves, which are ideal for both couples and families with children. Pets are also welcome in a good selection of accommodation. Search for availability and find your perfect accommodation with iknow.
