Picturesque Padstow along the Camel estuary is a historic fishing village in North Cornwall. The bustling working harbour here is one of Cornwall's most beautiful, brimming with fine cafes, restaurants and fish & chip takeaways flanking the quayside. Padstow is nicely sheltered from the Atlantic by the great headlands of Pentire and Stepper on the coast. Award-winning sandy beach bays - Constantine and Harlyn - and spectacular coast path walking are along the Padstow coast. The village has gained a reputation for culinary excellence, particularly for its seafood. Rick Stein has a selection of eateries and takeaways, and there are many other outstanding restaurants and bistros. Around the narrow streets of the village centre and South Quay you'll also find numerous independent shops, galleries and craft studios perfect for leisurely browsing and buying.

Golf lovers are well served by superb coastal golf links with magnificent views including Trevose Golf & Country Club with an 18 hole championship course and St Enodoc, one of the finest golf links in the South West. Attractions in the area include the National Lobster Hatchery on South Quay, the Padstow Maize Maze and the Elizabethan Prideaux Palace House which is set in beautiful grounds. Many Cornish Tin Mining families emigrated to North America from Padstow Harbour as Cornwall's mining industry fell into decline. Padstow Museum holds a fascinating archive on the history of these mining families, and the history of the fishing industry in the area. Padstow is a great base for exploring Cornwall. The Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan are just a 30 minute drive away. More surfing beaches and attractions are also in nearby Newquay - Watergate Bay and Newquay Airport are only around 7 miles from Padstow.
