Sedbergh Town Centre

Sedbergh Book Town on the Western edge of the Yorkshire Dales offers easy access into the Lake District. The town is fondly known as the great Lakes & Dales gateway and in recent times has become famous for its premier selection of independent and antiquarian book shops. Visit the town during the annual Book Festival in late February offering a fun packed range of events from poetry readings and writing workshops to literary talks.

Sedbergh is also popular with walkers and outdoor activity enthusiasts, nestling as it does close to the Howgill Fells and directly adjacent to the Dales Way which runs for 78 miles from Ilkley to Bowness-on-Windermere. Beauty spots nearby include England's highest above-ground waterfall Cautley Spout and a choice of bridleways surround the Book Town.Relax in quirky cafes or fine real ale inns, both plentiful in Sedbergh's cosy centre.

Essential visiting on any stay in Sedbergh is Farfield Mill Craft and Heritage Centre spread across four floors of an old woollen mill. See working looms, heritage displays and exquisite handmade crafts on a host of stalls. Regular artist demonstrations also feature and a delicious range of locally sourced snacks, drinks and meals are served up in the on-site Weavers' Cafe. Stay in one of England's famous book towns and book a place to stay in Sedbergh online now.
