From traditional sweet shops to coffee shops and tea rooms, Bath houses great places to enjoy a quiet drink or snack amongst the peaceful surroundings of this historic, beautiful city. It's also home to award-winning restaurants including The Dower House and the Olive Tree.

Bath is picturesque and perfect, and best enjoyed in the fresh air. Fortunately, a number of Bath restaurants, pubs and cafes give you the option to dine and drink al fresco. You can enjoy a meal and a drink in the arch of Pulteney Bridge with a visit to the Riverside Cafe (try their vegetarian breakfast with bubble and squeak cakes!), or sample Mexican favourites at Las Iguanas serving cocktails to sip in the sun. In addition, The Green Park Brasserie is frequented by celebrities, and offers free Wi-Fi and live jazz on most nights of the week (in addition to an exciting brasserie menu and friendly surroundings), whilst the central Pig and Fiddle offers that traditional pub experience with friendly regulars, live sport screenings and the chance to enjoy unusual meals including wild boar, kangaroo and ostrich burgers. As their website claims, this establishment is locally known as The Pig, and "it's a one off"!

Or, for ethnic Indian cuisine, the Eastern Eye is Bath's premier restaurant. They hold special nights, such as Musical Legends Night, run lunchtime meal offers, and evening deals too. Winners of many Restaurant of the Year awards (Les Routiers, Hungryhouse, Asian Curry Awards and many more), this place provides far more than a run-of-the-mill Indian menu. With such specialities as Fangash Fillet Bhaja, Lamb Sula and a good list of signature specials and house exclusives (including interesting vegetarian specialities) you'd be forgiven for being too engrossed in the food to notice the decor. But the large and popular restaurant is framed by massive wall art. Truly a fabulous, and not expensive place) to eat!

And for classy, relaxing and refined tea rooms, Bath can offer a fair few - try Bea's Vintage Tea Rooms on Saville Row for bone chine tea sets, incredible 1930/1940s influenced decor, and patisserie to die for! Or the Indulgence Cafe and Patisserie is superb for delicious, healthy light meals and cakes/pastries and patisserie to undo all your previous good work!
