Dog friendly beaches in St Agnes
The Cornish village of St. Agnes nestles in the cliffs on the North Cornish Coast between Newquay and St Ives and has four stunning beaches. It sits within Cornwall's World Heritage Mining Site and within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Rich in mining heritage, many remains of old tin mining engines are dotted around the hills and cliffs of St Agnes, all easily explored on food. St. Agnes tin, mined for hundreds of years, is still mined today. At Blue Hills, the tin ore is refined to create tin made gifts available for visitors to buy. Watch pots being thrown at St Agnes Pottery which sells gifts made from St. Agnes clay. The village has a number of craft centres and art galleries selling local and unique items, along with numerous independent shops, traditional, welcoming inns and a variety of restaurants.
Beaches, Surfing & Dogs Welcome
The four beaches include beautiful bustling bays popular with surfers and families. St Agnes hosts two international surfing competitions annually. Dogs are warmly welcomed in the area. Trevaunance Cove and Trevellas Porth are dog friendly all year round (dogs will need to be kept on leads on Trevaunance Cove). Outside of peak season dogs are also welcome on Chapel Porth and Porthtowan.

Walking, Cycling & Activities
St Agnes is a top spot for year round walking and cycling holidays. The South West Coast Path runs right through the village and around 70 footpaths and bridleways are in this designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. All paths are well marked and offer a choice of gentle strolls to great pubs or more challenging cross-country walks taking in ancient mining remains. Cyclists basing themselves in St Agnes have easy access onto the Coast to Coast Trail located just 4 miles north of the village, and cycle hire is available in the village centre. Other popular outdoor activities here include kayaking, coasteering and cross-country horse riding. Children are well catered in the safe and scenic environment of St Agnes. There are beach playgrounds and picnic areas, and kids surfing lessons are widely available.
The free entry, award-winning St Agnes Museum organises great children's activities such as treasure hunts. Call in at the little museum before exploring the St Agnes area on foot. A wealth of information, guides, books and portable MP3 guides are available here on local tin mining heritage and social history. The museum shop also sells toys, mementos and locally made tin items from tin collected in the surrounding Blue Hills.
Events include the annual St. Agnes Carnival every August, a traditional carnival with a parade and floats. On the Monday of the Spring Bank Holiday the St. Agnes Victorian Fayre attracts many visitors and features a pasty competition, stalls, street entertainment, family games and activities.
