Family cycling on The Mineral Tramway Trails around Camborne

Family cycling on The Mineral Tramway Trails around Camborne

The Camborne and Redruth Heartlands are a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site. The area is rich in ancient mining heritage and remains at major visitor centres including East Pool Mine, King Edward Mine and the tin mines of Geevor and Poldark. Close to Camborne are the vast old mining areas of Dolcoath and Carn Brea. At these sites you can discover the fascinating history of Cornish copper and tin mining. Many are great attractions for families with activities for children, onsite adventure playgrounds, underground mine tours, family cafes and art studios.

Several old mining trails also feature around Camborne and Redruth along Mineral Tramway trails like the Great Flat Lode which today are popular for family walking and cycling. Famous names in the history of British engineering and invention herald from this area including Richard Trevithick who built the first beam engine. Camborne celebrates its famous son at the end of April annually on Trevithick Day.
