Ogmore Castle

A large town with an abundance of attractions, Bridgend is located between Cardiff and Swansea offering easy access to both Welsh cities. It's home to three castles that stand in a triangle around the town - the dramatic Newcastle Castle, the free-to-enter Coity Castle and the riverside Ogmore Castle, again free to enter but accessed using stepping stones over the water.

The Bridgend village of Merthyr Mawr is a particularly interesting place. It's close to the Merthyr Mawr sand dunes, one of the largest dune networks in Europe, and features charming thatched cottages surrounded by woodland and meadows, set around a village green by the ivy-clad ruins of Candleston Castle .

The whole family can enjoy a visit to the Lakeside Farm Park with its restaurant and coffee shop, trout fishing lake and petting farm, or can spend the day shopping at the nearby McArthur Glen Designer Outlet, with almost a hundred factory outlet stores, or at the Rhiw Centre with a wide variety of well-known chains. For thrill-seekers, Bridgend also provides easy access to the South Wales Karting Centre in the Vale of Glamorgan. Find Bridgend holiday accommodation online. Book your self-catered or catered stay, and enjoy all that Bridgend has to offer.
