Newquay Coast Beaches

The Newquay Coast is Britain’s number one beach surfing destination, home to award-winning beaches like Fistral and Watergate Bay which host international surfing competitions and music festivals. This coast with the most is popular with families, surfing and party groups, couples looking for that beach chic romantic retreat and for year round coastal walking. It’s easily accessed via Newquay Airport which sits close to Watergate Bay and Mawgan Porth, and is just 5 miles north of Newquay centre. A large number of year round and seasonal summer city to surf cheap flights are available to Newquay Airport.

Beaches, Surfing & Watersports

Beaches along the Atlantic Newquay Coast are a magical mix of sheltered hidden coves, great sweeping surf beach award-winners, year round dog friendly beaches and gentle family beaches close to amenities and with safe bathing. The best of the surfing beaches at Watergate Bay, Fistral and further south around St Agnes pick up the Atlantic swell to full advantage making for prime surfing territory. Summer season sees the crowds flock to Newquay’s string of pearl beach bays. More peaceful beaches sit on the outskirts of the resort at Crantock, Porth, Holywell and Mawgan Porth. It’s not just surfing that’s popular on the water here. Everything from coasteering and kayaking to kite surfing and waveski are all widely available.

Magnificent panoramic views of beach bays and offshore rock formations feature en-route. Celtic & Mining History

To the south of Newquay sit the great Cornish Celtic and Mining Heritage centres of Perranporth and St Agnes. Perranporth has links to the Cornish saint of miners St Piran. The village is a mecca for annual Cornish St Piran’s Day celebrations in early March annually. St Agnes as well as offering four spectacular beaches and a selection of independent shops and galleries is also a centre for Cornish tin and copper mining heritage. St Agnes is within Cornwall’s World Heritage Mining Site - cliffs and hills around the village are dotted with the remains of numerous mine sites, many now restored and some like Blue Hills are mining tin again. Find out more in the award-winning St Agnes Museum!
