Pet Friendly Exmoor

Exmoor has about 267 square miles of woodland, coastal cliffs, valleys, farmland and moorland plus about 620 miles of public rights of way – footpaths and bridleways – perfect for walks with dogs. There’s also over 18,000 hectares of open access land just waiting to be explored. Dogs do need to be kept under close supervision at all times, and on leads at certain times of the year. (Find out more on the National Park website). Pet friendly accommodation in the National Park is plentiful, featuring a range of B&Bs, cottages and a selection of dog friendly hotels and inns. Find them in the heart of Exmoor around Wheddon Cross, Exford and Winsford. Popular park boundary locations on the coast (Minehead, Porlock or Dunster) and on the southern edge of Exmoor (Dulverton) offer more pet friendly accommodation options. You'll also find an excellent choice of Exmoor pet friendly accommodation where you are welcome to bring along your own horse. These include cottages on stable or farm complexes with excellent facilities for horses including stables, tack rooms, paddock space and more.

Dog Friendly Mendips

The Mendips incorporate some of Somerset’s most famous natural features from Cheddar Gorge to Crook Peak. Close by sit some of the county’s most famous hills including Glastonbury Tor and in the Mendips you’ll discover some wonderful Warrens, Knolls and Gorges like Ebbor, Brent Knoll and Dolebury Warren. Forest and lakeside/ reservoir walks are here aplenty too and walking trails criss-crossing the region include the 50 mile long Mendip Way from Weston to Frome, the West Country Way which in the Mendips takes in Ebbor Gorge and the Monarch’s Way which passes right through the Mendips linking Chew Valley Lake in the north to Wookey Hole and Ebbor Gorge in the south.

Dog Friendly Quantocks

Looking for the ultimate stress free dog friendly holiday in a beautiful rural setting. The Quantock Hills in Somerset contain a wealth of award-winning dog friendly B&Bs, inns and hotels in its 40 square miles. Stay in a cottage bordering the Quantocks in and around county town Taunton or base yourself and your pet in the heart of the area around ancient villages and small towns like Saxon Crowcombe. You and your pooch can tread in the footsteps of the Romantic poet Samuel Taylor Coleridge and head off along the 51 mile Coleridge Way running from Nether Stowey to Lynmouth through the Quantock Hills.
